USDOT TIGER FY2011

Wendover Region Multi-Modal Enhancement Project

The Wendover Region Multi-Modal Transportation Enhancement Project is a continuation of previous master planned projects and efforts to upgrade public access between employment, service and residential sectors in the community and related transportation links.  Previous and similar projects completed by the City of West Wendover include the Pueblo Boulevard Enhancement Project completed in 2006 and the Wendover Boulevard Enhancement Project Phase 1, which has been funded and designed and is scheduled for construction in early 2012.

The project is an important regional project and as such involves the three regional public entities which include the City of West Wendover, the City of Wendover and Tooele County/Wendover Airport.  The City of West Wendover is performing the role of lead agency and applicant for the project.

The Wendover Regional Multi-Modal Transportation Enhancement Project is thus a regional multi-jurisdictional project which if completed will continue the important efforts of the community to provide long term public benefits through the construction of new transportation facilities and their integration with existing transportation facilities providing important links between the various modes of transportation within the community.

The project will provide important and significant livability investments for the community which will benefit the residential population of the area (approximately 7,000) and visitors to the area (approximately 2 million per year) in addition to improvements to   interstate commerce associated with Interstate 80, U.S. Highway 93A, Wendover Airport, and the Union Pacific Railroad.

The project incorporates several important features many of which have been implemented on previous transportation projects as noted above.  These features include appropriate pedestrian and bicycle facilities, streetscapes including lighting which provide aesthetic enhancements in the community while significantly improving access and safety.
