Judge's Biography

The Honorable Reese F. Melville
Eastline Justice Court
West Wendover Municipal Court
I was born December 6, 1960 in Fillmore, Utah to the Honorable Judge LaMar F. Melville (Retired) and Dixie Turner Melville.
I was raised in Wendover, with my three brothers, Randal, Cory and Chris. I graduated from Wendover High School and then went to work at the local potash production plant as a heavy equipment operator, where I spent twenty-seven years. During nineteen of those years, I helped to raise two children, Jamie and Joshua, with their mother Cheryl Minniear (Melville) Lisk. During this same time, I also became involved in many organizations in the community such as Wendover Little League, serving as a West Wendover Recreation District Board Member, serving as a West Wendover City Councilman and, two years serving as Mayor for the City of West Wendover. Throughout this time, I was able to gain an understanding of how the political process works and additionally was afforded the opportunity to express the concerns of the community of West Wendover personally with many of our local, state and national representatives.
In July 2000, I met Mary Elizabeth McKinney and asked her to marry me. We were married December 26, 2000. Through this marriage, I added three more children to my family: Amie, Patricia “Tuf”, and Sam. They also brought along nine grandchildren: Charity, Faith, Eli, Jacob, Yvette, Marina, Harmony Hope, Isaiah and Nathaniel Reese who is also known as “Bubba”.
In November 2006, I won the elected office of the Eastline Justice of the Peace and in January 2007, I took office and was subsequently appointed by the by the City of West Wendover to serve as the West Wendover Municipal Court judge.
Since being elected, I have attended numerous educational opportunities offered by and through the National Judicial College. I am a member of the Nevada Judges of Limited Jurisdiction, which meets twice a year for educational conferences and legislative reviews. As well I am a part of the Northeast Nevada Judicial Council where judges of every level from Supreme Court Justices to Limited Jurisdiction Judges meet to discuss issues. Additionally I am a member of the National Judges Association, which has Limited Jurisdiction Judges as members throughout the country that focus on the educational needs of non-attorney judges as well as providing for a support mechanism to encourage state governments to continue to utilize non-attorney judges in their Limited Jurisdiction Courts. I am the appointed Nevada Representative to the National Judges Association and also serve on the Education Committee for the N.J.A.
I am proud to serve my community in this capacity and I am looking forward to serving West Wendover as their Judge for many years to come.
